A collection of 6 free, blank and fully editable December 2015 calendar templates for Microsoft Excel (.xlsx). Designed for the United States, they mark the federal holidays wherever they fall — in December 2015 those are shown both on the dates they are observed as well as on the dates of the actual holiday. All are free to download, with no sign-up required.
Each file covers a single month, which is what makes these different from a year overview: every day gets a box big enough to actually write in. Appointments, deadlines, shifts and reminders sit where you can read them at arm's length, and the weeks either side of the one you are in stay visible without the rest of the year competing for the space.
Whether you need a monthly calendar for work, a study schedule, a content calendar, a habit tracker or somewhere to keep the family's appointments in December 2015 straight, these blank pages give you a starting point rather than a system to learn. While our weekly calendars suit detailed day-by-day planning, a month to a page is the level at which deadlines, rotas and commitments become comparable — close enough to see the detail, wide enough to spot what is coming.
Each calendar is an .xlsx file that opens in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets and LibreOffice Calc, so you can type straight into the day cells and shade whole runs of days in your own colors. Change it as often as the month changes, and print it on US Letter paper whenever you want the current version on the wall.

Federal holidays and long weekends in December 2015

Christmas Day is the only federal holiday in December 2015, on Friday, December 25. That brings a three-day weekend at no cost in vacation days. December 2015 has 31 days and 23 weekdays, 22 of them clear once the federal holiday is deducted.

Ways to use a monthly calendar template

  • Business and professional planning
Map out meetings, deadlines and active projects for December 2015, or use the page as a shift schedule, staff absence tracker or timesheet. A single month is short enough that a whole team can work from one printed copy without it going out of date.
  • Personal and family organization
Keep appointments, birthdays, school runs and household jobs in one place, and put the month up where everyone can see it. Fill in what you already know about December at the start of it and add the rest as it arrives.
  • Travel and vacation planning
Block out the days you are away in December, then fit flights, accommodation and connections around them. The month view also works well for a wedding, a house move or anything else with a run-up rather than a single date.
  • Academic and school scheduling
Lay out study sessions, homework deadlines, exam dates and reading, and see at a glance which weeks of December are heavy before they arrive.
  • Text and colors are yours to change
Every entry you type and every color you apply can be changed as often as you like, from the notes inside each day to the shading on weekends and holidays. The files are macro-free, so nothing runs when you open them, and you can save a separate copy for each team member or family member and share it without anyone touching your own version. Keep yours on screen, or print it and pin it up where you will actually look at it.

Interesting facts about the month of December

The month of December is the twelfth and last month of the year and the seventh of seven months that have 31 days (the others are January, March, May, July, August and October). It is best known worldwide as the month of Christmas. In the Northern Hemisphere, it is the first month of winter and contains the winter solstice, the shortest day (that is, the day with the fewest daylight hours) and the longest night of the year, which occurs between December 20 and 23 (the date and local time differ from place to place depending on the year and a location's time zone). The name of the month of December is derived from the Latin word decem (ten) because December was originally the tenth month of the year in the Roman calendar.
  • The zodiac signs for December are Sagittarius (until about December 21*) and Capricorn (from about December 22*).
  • December always begins with the same day of the week as September.
  • In 2015 December starts on a Tuesday and ends on a Thursday.

* Average values, due to leap years the dates may deviate by ± one day.

Software and file compatibility

Every template is saved in Microsoft Excel (.xlsx) format, fully supporting the open XML document standard.
  • Microsoft Office
Compatible with Excel 2007 through 2024, as well as Office 365 (Desktop, Mac, and Mobile).
  • Google Sheets
The .xlsx files open in Google Sheets with the layout intact, so you can fill the template in from a browser on any computer, tablet or phone without installing anything.
  • Free alternatives
If you don't have Microsoft Excel installed, use Microsoft 365 (formerly Office Online) or a free alternative such as FreeOffice PlanMaker or LibreOffice Calc, both of which open our templates without formatting errors (OpenOffice Calc unfortunately has formatting problems).
  • Legacy systems
For older versions (Excel 2000, XP, 2003), these files can be converted easily or used via Microsoft 365.
