Federal holidays and long weekends in November 2014
November 2014 carries two federal holidays: Veterans Day on Tuesday, November 11 and Thanksgiving on Thursday, November 27. With Thanksgiving on a Thursday, one vacation day on the Friday after makes it a four-day break. With Veterans Day on a Tuesday, one vacation day on the Monday before does the same. The month of November is the eleventh month of the year and the fourth of four months that have 30 days (the others are April, June, and September). November's name is derived from the Latin word novem (nine) because November was originally the ninth month of the year in the Roman calendar.
