Giving Tuesday is an international day of charitable giving at the beginning of the Christmas shopping season that is held annually on the Tuesday after Black Friday and always falls between November 27 and December 3.

The movement describes itself as a "global generosity movement" whose the aim is to encourage people to "give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity". In response to the global Covid-19 pandemic of 2020, an extra Giving Tuesday was held on May 5, 2020.

Giving Tuesday is part of the Christmas shopping season that starts on Black Friday and also encompasses:

• Black Friday, the informal name given to the Friday after Thanksgiving (which is always held on the fourth Thursday in November) that marks the beginning of the Christmas shopping season
• Buy Nothing Day, an international day of protest against consumerism, held on the same day as Black Friday
• Small Business Saturday, created as a counterpart to Black Friday and Cyber Monday to encourage shoppers to visit small and local shops, held the day after Black Friday
• Cyber Monday, a marketing term created by online retailers to encourage online shopping, held on the Monday after Black Friday
• Super Saturday (also known as Panic Saturday), the name given to the Saturday before Christmas Eve which (unofficially) marks the end of the Christmas shopping season
