Labour Day in Canada is a statutory holiday held annually on the first Monday of September that celebrates the achievements of workers and the efforts of the labour movement around the globe to improve working conditions.

Historically, events on the day were a mix of politics and pleasure. They gave unions an opportunity to voice their demands during parades, rallies and celebrations, but also helped build working-class identity and gave a chance for rest and socializing with friends and family outside the workplace. It is still an occasion for major demonstrations by the labour movement, however nowadays most Canadians devote the three-day weekend created by the Labour Day holiday to leisure activities and family time.

The day was recognized as a statutory holiday in Canada in 1894 (in the same year as the United States federal government recognized the holiday as a federal holiday). It is observed on the same day as Labor Day in the US. It most countries around the world, however, Labour Day is held on May 1 and coincides with - and is synonymous with - International Workers' Day.

As in the US, the Labour Day weekend is generally seen to mark the end of the summer season.

Labour Day is called Fête du Travail in French-speaking parts of Canada.
